As so many of us remain restricted at home due to the corona virus pandemic, we decided to talk to you a bit about what our thoughts are regarding the summer season. In this time, we are reflecting at the value of cultural heritage Croatia has and nature wanders within.
With so many photos being shared on Creative Events Croatia social media of monuments, nature, Adriatic Sea, life in quarantine in Dubrovnik, empty streets, we got a lot of messages with the sobering emptiness of spots usually filled with people, and the ones that wish to be here at this moment.
First let's talk a bit about corona virus situation in Croatia and in Dubrovnik. We divided those two, although Dubrovnik is a town in Croatia, but Dubrovnik had always been separated by the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. In these times we remained separated by the numbers of people infected and that detachment was actually very convenient at that time. In total in Dubrovnik today we had 112 infected people, out of those people we had 6 death and 57 cured. Government measures are getting lower by the day, last week we opened out shopping centers and grocery stored back to normal working times.
Next Monday (on the 11th) restaurants and coffee bars are meant to have their own grand opening too. What the locals figured out prior to American scientists doing the same thing, is that Vitamin D with limited exposure to UV rays combined with Adriatic sea salt air and high humidity is something that stops the spread of virus. This is not something we just made up, this is something written in many news reports. It does not kill the virus, but it stops the spreading of it. We did a lot of walking around the town and in the nature Dubrovnik provides, it was a peaceful time. There were people on the streets and families spending times together on picnics, playing in the sand and walking up the mountain Srđ. Don't get us wrong, we did stay inside while the two weeks of strict quarantine measures were taking place. However, Dubrovnik is a small town and the locals living here are not used to staying inside while the temperatures are around 20 degrees, especially in this time of year.
In February we all usually wake up from winter laid back times and start anticipating the season, working on our products, improvements, brainstorming new ideas, marketing is in it's full potential, etc. So, now we're in May and doing the things we usually do in February. The times are rough, we are hoping your families and you are safe and are keeping the distances. Our wish with this blog post was to tell you that in the ended everything will pass and things will be good again. Travel ways will be a bit different with that COVID-19 special passport, however it still means you get to travel. There will be fear of traveling in the beginning and that is why we wished to tell you that Dubrovnik is in a bit different situation than the rest of our country. We get to swim, we get to walk around freely, we get to open our shops, to enjoy the days on Stradun, Old Town where you can see kids riding their bikes and flying their kites, playing soccer in the small streets usually filled with restaurants. These are the times we wish you all to come to this magical town that went back in time.
Feel free to let us know your plans for this summer. We would love to hear if you'll travel and where.
