The traveller sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see. – G.K. Chesterton
If you are a traveller then you clicked on the right experience! This is one of the lesser known things about Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik Republic in general; just how much advanced they were when it comes to medicine and alternative medicine. Most of our tour will focus on the Franciscan monastery situated at the beginning of the main street of Stradun. This place is home to one of the oldest pharmacies in the world, and what is thought to be the oldest pharmacy in Europe that is still operating. It has been continuously working since the 1317, can you imagine that?
Fascinatingly enough, they still grow and make everything themselves and they have a huge garden behind the monastery which can be seen from the City walls or by optiong for this experience.
We will explore the monastery which holds the pharmacy museum as you listen to more fascinating stories about it. We would recommend bringing home a souvenir, and we will be more than happy to help you choose – a crowd favourite is the rose facial crème!
